Yet More Congratulations Are In Order
How was your weekend? Mine saw yet more hurtling around the island, but this time only as far as Derbyshire to visit school buddy Emma and her bloke Marcus for a most relaxing and enjoyable barbecue. The weather stayed hot and bright, the food was fine, the company and conversation were great - nice to also see Simon and Kerry for the first time since their wedding in Winchester in May. A whole day with nothing else to do but sip Pimms and lemonade on decking overlooking a rural Derbyshire scene whilst chatting to old friends and gorging on barbecued meat - life really doesn't come more civilised than this. It was just a shame that my wifey couldn't make it (she's back in California for Lisa's wedding), but hey, that's a good excuse to head back for a second visit before the Summer's out - and maybe we'll take in the Crich tram museum or Matlock and the Heights of Abraham on the same weekend (both boyhood favourites of mine).
So where is the cause for congratulations? Well, I must have responded adequately to the question I so often face right now ("How's married life?"), as Em texted me yesterday to say that she and Marcus have decided to tie the knot. Yaaaay!
