My internet connection went down in the early hours of Sunday morning (when, naturally, I was trying to use it).  Cue 45 minutes of frustration and aimless tampering with the router settings before connection returned as suddenly as it had disappeared.

I later found, through looking at this BT Service status page that this was due to scheduled downtime, which had been posted with just six hours notice.  Now seriously, what's the chance of any user happening to check on the service status page during that time?  But if they made an RSS feed of outage information available, I would have caught it in Newsgator earlier in the evening, and probably gone to bed at a reasonable hour!
